Have you seen St. John's the last 2 seasons. Almost every game they play, Mullin is outcoached, so some coaches are doing effective in game coaching. Check out Virginia and Wisconsin. Not your highest level, but Did you see any Lehigh games ? Reed lost many coaching matchups. We don't play at the highest level anymore.....we did once.....sadly no more. And "Dr" Reed is a douche

Two cents worth of opinion re: JT Jr. and Georgetown, and may be not even worth two cents.
TPTB at GU still feel a bond with JT Jr because, through the success of his basketball program, he integrated GU into the Washington DC community.
I don't think its a stretch to say that the basic undergraduate orientation of GU pre JT Jr. was conservative, white, and Southern. (The gray in GU's colors is there for a reason.) And the gentrification of the surrounding neighborhood / community in the '50s and '60s which sent the blacks and the poor Irish (who lived near Holy Trinity) on their way, meant that GU found itself as an educational enclave moated off from the rest of the increasing minority population of DC by the white community that now surrounded it.

Is the fact that GU uses grey as a team color really related to the Confederacy, or just an accident? When was it selected?

When my daughter looked at GTown we were told on the tour that the Grey/Blue colors were for both sides of the Civil War. Thank goodness she turned them down (not for that reason) and went to HC.

Georgetown (the town) had active slave markets until 1862.
During the Civil War, of the 1100 Georgetown students and faculty who served, about 82 percent served in the Confederate army.
Lincoln rarely ventured into Georgetown during his Presidency, even though it was but 12 blocks away.

Problems already Georgetown told Ewing that he cannot hire his son. Ewing says that recruiting has not changed since he was being recruited Wrong

John Groce, just fired at Illinois, gets the Akron job. That's a big salary for a MAC school but could be the Ilini are still paying him the bulk of his income so the Zips benefit from his availability

I'm sure Groce is getting about what Akron normally pays, but that is supplemented by whatever buyout he negotiated with Illinois

The Rebel Yell was never (to my knowledge) performed by Elvis. He did, however, sing Dixie - a most popular song at Georgetown and one of Abe Lincoln's favorite songs. Youtube: "Elvis Presley Gospel - Dixieland"

I think Elvis commonly paired Dixie with the Battle Hymn of the Republic in his performances

I think Elvis commonly paired Dixie with the Battle Hymn of the Republic in his performances Most times he did. Many felt that his was a moving interpretation.

Derek Kellogg to LIU Brooklyn. Kellogg is not a better coach than Jack Perri. Only in America do you fire a coach who went 20-12 & 13-5 in conference to replace him with one who went 15-18 & 4-14 in conference.

It may well be more of a personal issue than a coaching one that prompted the move. For some schools winning is to the only thing they find important.

Perri made the mistake of winning the NEC his first season in '13 to build on predecessor Jim Ferry's 10 year success. Though second this season he did not win in '14, '15, '16 or '17.
