Massey maks Navy a 5 point favorite over HC this weekend (69-64) and gives them a 67% chance for the win. Interesting since HC beat the Middies by 11 (74-63) at Annapolis.

Next two games at home vs the 2 teams we’re tied with (for 5th) in standings.

If I was going to divide the league into thirds. . .
HC is 0-4 against the top third with two to play HC is 4-0 against the bottom third with two to play HC is 1-2 against the middle third with three to play.
HC needs to play well in the games against the middle third to escape that play in round. The way this traditionally works, there's going to be a log jam in the middle of the pack and one game and tiebreakers will have significant weight. A sweep either way of the next two games, and we will probably be able to make some educated guesses about where this squad ends up

We have to hope the team can stay healthy! Dorsey is nicked up a bit, Tse looked like he got dinged last night, (hip?). 3 games in 6 days takes toll on the legs, Maybe the extreme cold coming Friday will act like an ice bath on their bodies!

At one point it looked like Octave banged a knee and he limped off. He came back so maybe it's nothing, but the collective dings and nicks can start to have an effect on a team that has little margin for error.

From an email I got: "Men's basketball will also welcome back program alumni and will be celebrating the 1948, 1953, 1993 and 2003 anniversary teams! "
1948 is 75 years. Is anyone still with us other than Cousy, who I doubt would attend?
1953, 1993 and 2003 were NCAA teams.

Whether or not the Cooz or any other teammate come, HC still had to honor that team to respect the Cooz and possibly others.

I think it's nice that they are doing that regardless of people that could or (in most cases, sadly) couldn't attend. I'm sure that Mr. Cousy and families of the other players appreciate it.

I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say this is the most important game of Brett Nelson’s career at HC.
A win gets HC to 6-6 and potentially tied for fourth (American has Colgate this weekend). All of a sudden, with a home game against Lafayette looming, HC would have a realistic chance at a top four finish and getting to 10 PL wins.
A loss and we are 5-7 and back to looking like a bottom four seed in the PLT.

We could get to 6-6, then lose the rest.

We could get to 6-6, then lose the rest. We sure could. Nelson hasn't really had many important games at HC, but this one actually feels like a big one with higher stakes.

The last game was one of the best performances I have seen by HC in years. It does make me excited for our next game versus Navy. Of course when expectations have been raised in the past, it only served to make the drop-off longer if HC lost.

Two thoughts, HC has won games because of their DEFENSE.. In games they have lost, they have not given up!

Most teams do not give up when they lose

In games they have lost, they have not given up! Not to be overly critical, but this shouldn't be celebrated.

Every game he has coached has been important unless we finish top four and get to the semis I don’t think much else matters

Of course when expectations have been raised in the past, it only served to make the drop-off longer if HC lost. Last year Luc scorched the Terriers at the Roof in a great game to watch also. It was club sports night and bunch of B.U. club athletes were screaming like banshees right behind the announcers table.

Amy Coleman is up at bat this weekend. She's the HC Senior Associate Director of Athletics with facilities in her portfolio. I hope they keep the pipes warm and trickling over night so there are no burst pipes to postpone the game.

Yep. It's cold. -14 degrees right now here in RI. My "personal best" is -26 on 2/18/1979 in a Syracuse suburb (yeah, I just looked it up). Not wind-chill. But, when I went out, there was no wind. I was told that was the coldest day in Syracuse history but just researched it, that tied for 2nd lowest temp as they hit -29 in 1904. Now, it's also quite possible that my -26 was colder than that as I was out in the country. So, be smart. Don't stay outside. Have fun at the Navy game (they play basketball indoors! ). I'll be at another basketball game today - granddaughter's. Family first!
