I believe that Robinson also was out in their last game He played 18 minutes against Houston. Christian Thompson, a reserve guard, missed the game with a knee injury. He's been averaging 13 MPG this season.

Massey has URI as a 13 point favorite with an 88% chance for the win. I would point out that Monmouth (a team most feel the Cross could have/should have beaten) is ranked ahead of URI by Massey (Monmouth at #62 / URI at #72). HC can take this with the sort of game we showed against Quinnipiac. Our early 3 point shooting at Rhode Island can tell us if we have a chance for the upset.

This would be the best win HC has had, in terms of quality of opponent, since St. Joseph's in 2007.

Here is the URI writeup from the Houston Game:
How It Happened Houston outscored the Rams by 10 in the second half and 15-9 over the final 4:33 of the game to seal the 82-77 win.
In a game that featured six ties and 13 lead changes, Rhode Island jumped out to an 11-2 lead less than 4:00 into the game. The Rams led the entire first half, shooting 46.2% from the floor during the first 20:00 of action. An offensive board and put back by Cyril Langevine with 11 seconds put the Rams up, 42-35, but a tip-in at the buzzer by the Cougars made it 42-37 at the break. [Does this first half sound familiar to HC fans?]
After a Kuran Iverson jumper to start the second half made it 44-37, Houston began an 11-2 run. A Rob Gray 3-pointer with 15:38 to play gave the Cougars their first lead of the game. There were five lead changes and two ties over the next three-plus minutes as both teams traded baskets. E.C. Matthews tied the game at 62-62 with a layup with 7:19 to play but Houston rattled off five unanswered, taking a 67-62 lead with 6:25 to go. Rhody rallied back and after Stanford Robinson converted a traditional three-point play with 4:33 left in regulation, URI led 68-67. UH went on a 6-0 push over the next 2:33, putting the game out of reach. The Cougars led by as many as eight - 80-72 - down the stretch. Inside the Box Score
E.C. Matthews led all scorers with a season-high 31 points. The 6-5 guard was 12-of-23 from the floor and 6-of-12 from beyond the arc. He added five rebounds in 32 minutes of play. Cyril Langevine continued to shine as he made his second collegiate start. The 6-8 forward registered his first career double-double with 10 points and 11 boards. Langevine was 8-of-11 from the foul line while tallying two assists, two blocked shots and two steals in 27 minutes. After missing much of the first half due to foul trouble, Kuran Iverson added 10 points, seven boards, two assists and three blocked shots. Jarvis Garrett added eight points and four assists while Jared Terrell had nine points, three boards, and two assists. Rhody's bench tallied nine points - six for Stanford Robinson and three for Jeff Dowtin. As a team, the Rams connected on 44.1% from the floor and 36.0% from the perimeter (9-25). Rhody converted 16-of-23 from the foul line. URI outrebounded Houston, 37-34, including holding a 15-10 edge on the offensive glass. Houston went 26-for-31 from the foul line, attempting eight more free throws over the 40 minutes of action. A combined 43 fouls were whistled (URI 25; UH 18).
Stat of the Game, pt. I 16 - Rhode Island scored 16 second-chance points on 15 offensive boards. Cyril Langevine corralled a team-high four offensive rebounds while Kuran Iverson had three.
Stat of the Game, pt. II 2 - Today's game was the second time E.C. Matthews scored 30 or more points. His previous 30-point game was a 32-point affair vs. Duquesne Feb. 15, 2014.
What's Next Rhody returns to action on Sunday, Dec. 18 when it hosts Holy Cross at 12:30 p.m. at the Thomas M. Ryan Center.

If we want to have any chance for the upset, I feel like we absolutely have to come out and hit our first few perimeter shots (like last Sunday). I nominate this type of shot- RChamp seems to LOVE this spot on the floor (saw it against the Q):

My favorite is when his assistants have to physical restrain him from attacking orricials--not a one time occurrence. Even after he won the league title at Wagner, his fellow coaches did not vote him coach of the year, which was rare. Countdown to Sota's defense of a St.Ben's coach 3,2,

RHODE ISLAND VS. HOLY CROSS - ALL-TIME SERIES
Tonight marks the 41st meeting between Rhode Island and Holy Cross. The Rams are 14-26 all-time versus the Crusaders, dating back to 1908-09. Rhode Island dropped 17 consecutive games to the Jesuit school from Worcester, through the Bob Cousy (1946-50) and Tom Heinsohn (1953-56) eras, into 1962-63. URI won the last meeting - a 74-56 decision at the Ryan Center on Dec. 2, 2015. HC is now tied with Rutgers as URI's 17th most common opponent (41 games).
RHODE ISLAND VS. THE PATRIOT LEAGUE Rhode Island is 6-1 all-time against Patriot League opponents. Last year, the Rams earned two Patriot League wins - American and Holy Cross. Holy Cross is a charter member of the Patriot League, which began play in 1990-91.
RHODE ISLAND AT THE ALEX AND ANI COURT AT THE THOMAS M. RYAN CENTER Rhode Island holds a 150-75 all-time record in the Thomas M. Ryan Center. The Rams are 77-25 in the regular season and 86-26 overall in non-conference games played at the Thomas M. Ryan Center. URI has won 17 of its last 19 and 26 of its last 30 home non-conference games Last season marked the 11th time in venue history that the Rams won 10 or more home games in a single season. Rhode Island's inaugural victory in the building was a 73-71 OT affair vs. USC (Nov. 26, 2002). Rhody's last home game - a 51-39 victory over ODU - marked the 150th all-time win at the Thomas M. Ryan Center.
TODAY'S RHODE ISLAND FACTS YOU CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT For the first time since 2013-14, two Rhody players - Hassan Martin and E.C. Matthews - each have a 30-point performance. The last time three different URI players had a 30-point game in the same season: 1967-68 Rhody has allowed opponents to shoot better than 50.0% in a half on three occasions this season (20 total halves). URI is tied for second in the A-10 with Dayton in points per possession (1.10). St. Bonaventure & La Salle top the list (1.13). Rhode Island is the only team in the Atlantic 10 to have three players rank among the top 20 in the league in scoring.
