Saw parts of the Syracuse v USF game. Syracuse offense was difficult to watch and defense was no better. 45-0 USF. Bowl games (non-CFP) can be absolutely crazy in this portal and sit-out era.
Syracuse was a favorite on the betting lines I saw.

Just heard on Cover 3 (podcast) that 10 (!) portal guys from JMU are actually playing. That is odd. Who knows how many stay after all.
Air Force hit a nosedive late this season. But no portal type issues I know of.

Just watched JMU’s pre game hype talk by acting coach Wroblewski. Not even close to what Chesney will bring to the team.

If the portal kid wants to play and the coach agrees to let him play than he can play. Syracuse apparently had 3 of its 13 portal guys listed as eligible for last night’s bowl debacle. 3 others have already exited the portal to new locales. (They had 16 total guys enter the portal.)

AFA-31-14 8 minutes left This will take JMU out of the top 25 May take some of the pressure off Chesney

AF No redshirts, portal, transfers, NIL - play 4 years. - a different type of kid. Head coach 17 years, assistants i place for 9+ years. Stability. They do it the right way. It can be done. Would prefer HC was similar & had stability in coaching and students who played 4 years Unfortunately, it may not be possible. Look at some other schools with long serving head coaches - Monken at Army, Teevens at Dartmouth, Murphy at Harvard, Reno at Yale(?), There are other programs also not on the coaching/transfer carousel. There are other good programs not resorting to red shirting , etc. Prefer a good solid PL competitive program w/ some championship years/ w/o all this extraneous professionalizing crap. HC has a different type of kid too. Want to keep it that way. Money is a growing corrupting influence in college football. Has been that way for 100+ years. Now money has totally taken over. I do not care for professional college football. Portal, NIL, transfers redshirts sickens me. I have nothing but contempt for these practices. It sucks Hope HC & PL can find a way to stay out of this crappy morass. Maybe, if the IL can win in court & maintain its non-athletic scholarship policy, the PL could do the same and stay away from redshirts, portals, NIL etc.

Army beat Air Force easily. Army barely beat us. Air Force manhandled JMU. Ergo, we are better than JMU.
In all honesty - Sluka is better than McCord.

JMU has now lost two in a row, after an 11-0 start.
AF nearly 400 yards total offense, including 351 net yards rushing. Either JMU's heads/hearts were not in the game, or they were overrated. Full box score isn't up yet, but at one point, AF was averaging over eight yards a rushing attempt.

JMU won their final game of the season over Coastal. JMU did have wins over G5 bowl teams Troy, Utah State, GA Southern, GA State, Coastal, App state, ODU, So Alabama, and Marshall. One can argue about too many bowl games and the strength of the G5, but the Sun Belt had a ton of bowl eligible teams. Best wins were over Utah State and UVA, only loss was the OT game vs App State.
Now Army beat Coastal so I don't think it's much of a stretch to say we would have a shot at JMU this year. It does make me wonder how we would do in the G5. I think AFA was a very good team this year for G5, but severely underestimated Army.

Unless I missed it Chesney did not say anything complimentary about his career enhancing experience at HC. And he was given a couple of opportunities to do so by the interviewer. Disappointing.

Watching the Northwestern v Utah bowl game. Northwestern up 7-0. Utah QB is playing despite being in the portal and not sure he is doing himself any favors with two first half interceptions. Plus one of the commentators asked if his heart was really in it since he’s chosen to leave the school.
Such an odd situation. At least the game is close.

BC may be asking himself that as both are in the portal and the JMU QB may be open to remaining.

Yeah, I have the game on tape and while the interviewer complimented him on his success at Holy Cross, Bob really had no comment about HC. However, not sure I can blame him as he was there supporting his new school and not sure he wanted to use the limited interview time he had extolling his prior place as he's looking forward. Not sure when he came to HC that he talked much about either Assumption or Salve Regina.

They touted JMU run defense until AF rolled through them. Their bball team is more legitimate than football this year IMO.

And when I heard that I thought it was a nice gesture.

Absolutely. JMU player didn't have the mobility to avoid the AF pressure that Matt would have been able to get away from. I also suspect our OL would have done better than JMU's did. Might be my purple glasses.
That said, while Army beat AFA by more than they did against us, from memory that was because AFA had a Harvard-type multiple turnovers game against West Point (5 or 6 to 0?).
