Yeah, I have the game on tape and while the interviewer complimented him on his success at Holy Cross, Bob really had no comment about HC. However, not sure I can blame him as he was there supporting his new school and not sure he wanted to use the limited interview time he had extolling his prior place as he's looking forward. . It would not have taken long to say something complimentary about HC.

As an NU degree holder, I watched the entire LV Bowl last night. After the season opening loss at Rutgers, the Cats ended the year with 3 straight Big10 wins and a bowl victory over a Pac12 team. Coach Braun, who had never been a head coach before and spent his entire career at the D2 and FCS levels as a player and coach, was named Big10 coach of the year earlier this month. The lesson--talented head coaches need not have prior experience as head coaches and there are fine coaches below the FBS level.
Not saying Kit made an error in his hire, but I think eliminating a large pool of applicants w/o prior head coaching experience is short sighted in my humble opinion. Merry Christmas to all.

Kudos to the Northwestern coach and team. It is well within the realm of possibility that Kit had a pretty good idea of who the next coach would be when he crafted his description of what he was looking for. Not saying this was definitely the case but I have seen hirings where precisely this sort of situation unfolded.

CBSsports.com had this “up next” comment at the end of its recap of the JMU-Air Force bowl game:
UP NEXT: James Madison: Bob Chesney, hired from Holy Cross, will make his debut as Dukes coach at Charlotte on Aug. 31.
Air Force: The Falcons, seeking their first Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy since 2016, open at home against FCS Merrimack on Aug. 31.
Merry Christmas to all!

Great to see that Coach Curran understands the importance of challenging your team against top flight FBS programs. A nice pay day as well.

Unless you're one of the (few) people on here who knows who was interviewed and who the finalists were, how can you be sure that all coaches w/o prior head coaching experience were eliminated?

The Rice starting qb is terrible. He got benched and the backup appears to be just as bad. They could certainly use a playmaker.

The bowl games in 2023 are a shell of what they once were.....many kids not playing in them due to the NFL draft, transfer portal etc.....it will be interesting how they are looked at when the FBS playoffs expands to 12 teams next year.
The dirty little secret of these bowl games is that they expand the practice season for these programs another 4-6 weeks.

I thought Fenway was a crappy place to have a December bowl game vis-a-vis Foxborough or BC; however, with a rainstorm predicted, the roofed parts of the stadium should be filled up (nothing else).
No tarp for the field, just the infield, might make for a stagmire, as the fictional Little Carmine Lupertazzi would describe it as.

It’s been raining overnight in Boston and 100 pct chance of rain between 11 and 2 - that natural turf at Fenway will take a beating

The technology is there for excellent grass fields even in crappy conditions. This Fenway Bowl, and I like the idea, has a bit of a curse over it. Cancelled twice for COVID and now playing in miserable conditions. It's too bad.

Not a bad matchup though for the bowl.
They got hometown BC and an SMU team that probably deserves to be playing in the Fiesta Bowl.

In other news, I saw the Miami equipment truck backing up an on ramp to the Bronx River Parkway. Those low clearance bridges don't discriminate. Welcome to New York!

BC up 23-14 with about 7 left in the game.
Wondah if the Mustangs are feeling the effect of a rainy Wintahh's day in New England.

For those who “hate” the Eagles, remember every success they have makes our close loss look even better.
