Season gets underway in two weeks against Providence at home.
This program is 2-26 over the past two seasons. Both wins have come against UMass Lowell, who is, fortunately, on the schedule this season.
In PL games over the past two seasons, we have been outscored by an average of 8.2 goals per game.
What are realistic expectations / goals for this season?

I just went through the entire Patriot League Men's Lacrosse record book, Holy Cross has NEVER finished in the top four of the conference regular season standings. Lowell has a second year head coach this year so might not be an auto win anymore.

But I do see Chaminade grad and HC frosh Jude Lynch is the younger brother of absolutely superb Notre Dame faceoff/middie Will Lynch. (Thought that was interesting.)

America U has six men's sports. No football, no hockey, no lacrosse, no baseball. When I look at the lack of success of our minor sports it makes me wonder what we're doing having so many sports.

giving essentially full paying students an opportunity to play college sports.

giving essentially full paying students an opportunity to play college sports. True but full paying college students would be there without the financial burden of having an athletic team if they didn't exist.

giving essentially full paying students an opportunity to play college sports. College sports at the D1 level. That is something for which many would pay.

That's not the school's theory - HC adm thinks those full paying student athletes would be somewhere else and they want them on campus even though 'the team they play on wins about 25-35 pct of their contests' - Our school doesn't care to finish last in the overall league standings.

giving essentially full paying students an opportunity to play college sports. True but full paying college students would be there without the financial burden of having an athletic team if they didn't exist. That sounds like a logical rebuttal to the usual argument for having a (perennially) losing men’s lax squad and paying the associated costs (staff, transportation, equipment, facility…). BUT (essentially) full-paying males who are pretty good students are relatively rare in regards to HC admissions. There are about 45 men on the HC roster. [These considerations and this math may or may not be in play at other schools - or even HC women’s lax - so mileage will vary.] That’s the single best reason I can come up with (although certainly not the whole story) for the existence of this participatory team (and a few others) up at HC.

Let’s be realistic. For years, the same could be said about the 80+ FBall and 20+ men’s hockey student athletes. Look at Men’s Hoops. Those 15 students cost the school way more than several of the olympic sports combined — with the return in terms of on the court results the same as mens lax, soccer etc… (excluding the years when most current college age male students were not yet born).
The discussion should be how to improve the team and program. This is the same analysis for all programs. The proper mix of coaching, recruiting and funding is what ADKH needs to achieve to continue to attract high level students and athletes that aspire to attend HC to play any of the sponsored teams.

I like your analysis. I also think if HC doesn't offer graduate schools, nursing and other health fields, no or underdeveloped business and engineering programs, then it at least should be full service in what it does offer like D-1 athletics.

Wonder how UNLV would feel if he picked up a stick and played lax for us this spring. 😄 No doubt he’d be our best player.

That is certainly an interesting possibility to consider...though quite unlikely.
