I’m not exactly sure what I’m looking at with this team, and what we are trying to do offensively and defensively. Seems like a lot of backcourt passes trying to get into something offensively but then settling for either AAU drives for difficult layups or 3s. On defense we can’t seem to get position or help quickly on drives to the basket. Admittedly I have not watched as much basketball this year as I usually do.

Drew Lowder, to date, has an "assist rate" of 28.2% per KenPom. Assist rate is a pretty straightforward calculation per KenPom's website: assists divided by the taems' baskets scored while the player was on the floor.
Here's a comparison to some other Holy Cross point guards--bear in mind that some of the players might have played the #2 position for some minutes, particularly early in their careers. For example, in 2003-04 senior Jave Meade averaged 33.8 minutes per game while his backup, freshman Torey Thomas averaged 14. So, we can figure that Torey played about 6 minutes per game backing up Jave and 8 minutes per game along side Jave. It was harder for TT to get assists in those 8 minutes when Jave was handling the ball.
Jave Meade-- no data as a freshman then 31.2, 35.1, 34.4
Torey Thomas-- 23.3, 29.5, 28.6, 28.9
Pat Doherty-- 27.8, 19.7, 33.0, 35.3
Andrew Beinert-- 16.9, 16.5 (Pat D on team first 2 seasons), 20.3, 26.3
Justin Burrell-- 26.1, 31.4, 17.9 (AT's freshman season), 33.8
Anthony Thompson-- 8.8, 15.5, 16.1, 14.2 (Last 2 years with Coach Carmody where assists spread around to multiple positions)
Caleb Green-- 18.3, 17.2
Drew Lowder-- 28.2 partial season, freshman, just getting started, roles not yet solidified, etc. Still--28.2% suggests that he is setting up some teammates as well as scoring on his own

Maybe I was wrong about one reason why (foul trouble, pretty much wasn't any in his case; the final two fouls were in the last minute); but I still think 24 minutes give him coming back from inactivity (for whatever reason) was about all Nelson could expect to get out of the young man. There might be other "fish to fry" in terms of critiquing the staff, but not this move. You don't play two guys 40 minutes each unless you really have to.

Not sure about KC, but if he has the flu/cold that is going around the Worcester area, it last about 3 weeks! I have it, seems like a cold, and it is not easy to do much...Really zaps your strength....Doctors aren't sure what to do with it..Saw the Doc and he basically told me it will go away in about 3 weeks......hopefully KC gets his feet under himself soon! We need him in the court....

Great preventive care!
After retiring twice I now run a think tank on health focused on prevention, social determinants and access Not a great role model, however, as I have had 2 flu shots in the past 45 years and both times got sick
Still a very smart thing to do

Retirement's the best medicine...you don't have to deal with a germ-laden workplace several days a week. Has kept me and my wife (who still works, but remotely) in pretty good shape.

Do young people get flu shots or are they just for older folks? I get one every year without fail. Got my first this year. I have a newborn in the house as many of you know so took the precaution this fall. Anyone expecting to spend significant time around the elderly or very young is recommended to get it.

As well as for those who are elderly who spend significant time with the very young (like grandchildren, for example). [Can we agree to define "elderly" as over 80? Proud of my senior discounts but . . . . ]

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases, said while it's impossible to predict how the flu will play out, the season so far is on track to be as severe as the 2017-2018 flu season, which was the deadliest in more than four decades, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. "The initial indicators indicate this is not going to be a good season -- this is going to be a bad season," Fauci said, and recommends everyone over 6 months old get a flu shot

My brother (‘69) reports that his 3 grandchildren (all reside on Long Island) has the flu over the Christmas/New Year holidays. 2 of them were vaccinated (siblings) but the cousin did not. The older (boy) sibling bounced back the fastest, the youngest (girl) sibling the slowest. Not sure how the unvaccinated cousin recovered.
No question that vaccinations can’t hurt and might help, the experts say, even if you catch a different strain.

Wow, is the following of this Board getting old. Going on and on about flu shots. Reminds me of lunches with fellow HC grads here in Albany. After Tommy the Tank Cahill the most talked about thing is knee replacements.
