Is Elms the first opponent we've ever played whose name starts with The College of the.... No. Much like Holy Cross, the official name of Elms College is still ... College of Our Lady of the Elms And if you want to get technical Notre Dame (when translated into English) is ... University of Our Lady of the Lake "The" precedes none of the official names of any of the institutions - including College of Mount Saint Vincent. "The does precede The College of William & Mary, The United States Military Academy and The United States Naval Academy.

The Catholic University of America, The City College of New York, The College of Saint Rose, The College of New Jersey, The College of Wooster. I wonder if The College of Wooster ever played Worcester Polytechnic Institute in anything? HC must have played Catholic University or CCNY in something back in the day.

HC beat CCNY in the 1947 FInal Four semi-final round I knew it sounded familiar. CCNY (NCAA and NIT champs in 1950), NYU (Satch Sanders), University of Hartford, Seattle University (Elgin Baylor), Georgetown, Villanova (Howie Long) and Fordham football are all good examples of why it's a shame to drop divisions or sports unless the wolf is truly at the door.
