Basing it on wins scares me. Don’t want to see schedule dumbed down (any more). Didn’t “20 wins baby!” get MB an extension? In 2013-14, HC went 20-14. Our non-conference SoS that year was 145, in the top 40% of D1. The dumbing down of the non-con schedule started with Carmody.
NCSOS under MB 2010-11. 167 2011-12. 194 2012-13. 231 2013-14. 145 2014-15. 103
Average: 168
Carmody Average: 239 Nelson Average: 253
Again, I'm lazy, but my guess is back then the PL was a little stronger top to bottom than it is now. During that period they had wins over BC, Harvard, at USF and at Old Dominion (not great teams outside of Harvard, but still teams from higher rated conferences. I'd take that in a heartbeat now).

If the team wants to seriously contend for a top-5 finish, they really need this game.
Hearing there might be some kind of weather event here Wednesday night into Thursday (on top of what's coming tonight).

IMHO FCMB needed a perfect storm to have won a title, that being - a run through the PL tournament that avoided coaches O'Hanlon and Brennan. That did not happen years 1-4; then in year 5 he had the OT/Malcolm Miller game against #1 seed Bucknell. Too lazy to look it up again, but I'm pretty sure he had a decent overall PL record minus those 2 coaches. I really think that a win over AU in the semis in 2014 might have gotten him a few extra years. He was a lot of things, but - he had the Boo Williams AAU connection, and his staff treated the fans/supporters of the program with respect (and some if I recall didn't even like that). At least one felt connected to the team. Not so much now (I realize the pandemic played a part in that, to a certain extent).

I give this group a ton of credit for hanging in there this season. Congrats!

Idiot announcer makes it impossible to watch and listen. Every time a 3 goes up it's an auto mute.

Maybe he was under strict orders not to shoot, and got pulled when he did.
I kid......I think.

Wonder if any other college team has only 10 players on its active roster ? Army looks as if it has about 20. The guess was wrong 25 Wonder if they could spare a few....preferably those 6-7 and taller.

One selling point for recruits will be the opportunity for lots and lots of playing time.

Also meant to mention: I thought Octave looked as comfortable as I can remember since his injury.

By the way, I apologize in advance if I am wrong on Wilbar, but the same source was spot on about Lewis' departure.

I just call them bigs, and I sort of define that as someone who has to spend time defending in the paint, and provide some post up scoring as well (in addition to being a primary rebounder).
When you consider he has virtually no other size around him to help, he certainly has to shoulder a very heavy load, and that alone puts him right up there with the others as far as I'm concerned. I shudder to think of him being gone next year....yikes.

Agree totally with '83, WHEN he blew the whistle made no sense at all. The other thing that irks me was that it wasn't like Smith was attempting to advance the ball, and Batch impeded his progress with his hands or body. Just arms flailing away from both guys. If the ref just waited another second or two it would have played out; then he could have called a foul if warranted. Just a Wednesday night ref assigned to a PL game making it about himself in the last minute.
I just can't get on the players at all at this point - they are giving so much of themselves. It has to be discouraging to see guys on the other team being subbed while you're sucking wind. I hope they can find a way to grind out some more wins; they deserve it.
Smith is good, but our guy is pretty good too.
I have to say I thought Colgate did the best job yet at using their tremendous height advantage. I guess that's what good coaching will do for you.
The Raiders are certainly good, but not sure if they are quite at the level of their last couple of teams. Smith as a freshman is a little different than Nelly Cummings or Jordan Burns as upperclassmen, imho. Still, will be really hard to knock them off.
Well, time to get ready for Saturday - I suggest every tests their mute button on the ole remote before then.

Given Wilbar’s absence at Lafayette and not being in the gym tonight, can we assume he’s no longer with the team? I heard from a pretty good source that is the case.

Dorsey back....but so is Colgate's Smith.
No sign of Wilbar. Louth and Rabs here.
Owner of a new tooth brush and Crest toothpaste. Life is good.

Worth noting Colgate's PG Braeden Smith (probably the league's top freshmen) only played three minutes against Bucknell in their last game. Presumably he got hurt. Be interesting to see if he plays tonight. Was on their bench later in the game in a boot, so it will be interesting indeed....will gladly accept any break at this point (not to the kid's ankle).

The last 12 or so years have been a bit like going to the dentist. I do hope the little Crest gift packs they're handing out contain some mouth wash, as all the losses over the years have left a bad taste in my mouth. I hope the coaches have been working hard to try to get to the root of the program's problems....maybe they hashed it out over lunch in the Canal District. Big opportunity tonight; an upset would be a crowning achievement in CBN's head coaching career so far. For me, I'm just hoping the boys don't get drilled by the Raiders - if they can keep it close I'll be pleased. Ok, I'll stop before my old 6th grade teacher comes here and dishes out his favorite form of punishment: making me write "I must learn to keep my oral cavity closed" 100 times on the blackboard. I only have one real question for tonight: the first 200 fans will get the Crest gift packs........will they have any left over?

Trivia question: What do coaches Schuertz and Nelson have in common?
Answer: they both filled out the bottom of their rosters with the same big.

Back from Easton. Yes no Wilbar on the bench or Louth. Dorsey was using a vibration device on his shoulder before the game started. Rabs in sweats cheering on his teammates. Credit to the team from bouncing back from the first half deficit and actually building a 4 point lead. Offense fell apart after that with offensive fouls, collapsing defense on Gates and dreadful shooting from outside. Good shooters on Lafayette and their 7' center helped clog up the middle. Decent turnout of about 50 HC fans. Students still on break so a rather quiet Kirby center. Best thing about the trip--I now qualify for sr. citizen pricing and was able to purchase a ticket for $7 at the box office. Early before the Loyola game I spotted the trainer working on him in the corner of the gym. My view was partially blocked, but ND had his shirt off. He's not exactly Charles Atlas, so it's not shocking that's he's banged up.
