Back on track. Even though playing BC did not seem like a wise choice to me, I must admit that the enthusiasm for this game among the posters on this board was a delight to read. Let's face it BC is special to us. But that begs the question, namely who should HC try to schedule in the future? Obviously few would expect Syracuse and UCONN to generate the same degree of enthusiasm as did BC. Navy might spark some real enthusiasm as it is a novelty and a service academy. Will our next game against BC generate the same enthusiastic response? Would playing BC every few years continue to spark our interest or will interest fade in a drumbeat of demoralizing shellackings? If the powers that be believe it would advantageous to play a BCS school then it seems to me that if it were possible to play West Point and UMASS, these games would be great choices as both games would create a buzz. Add UCONN to the mix, too. BC??? But I believe that it would be just as important to try to add to our PL games a mix of FCS teams spaced over the seasons such as more Ivies(which always seem to draw a lot of interest) and possibly upgrade to CAA teams - Wm.& Mary, Richmond, Villanova might spark some enthusiasm too. Check out this year's Colgate schedule as it is pretty good. In my view we do have a good schedule this year. After all you are known by the company you keep and playing these schools would surely burnish our reputation. Love HC I didn't go to the BC game but went to the Yale game. I find it interesting that if the attendance estimates are accurate, almost twice as many HC fans attended the BC game as the Yale game.

Holy Cross football fans have always “traveled well.”😉
I figured about 10,000 legitimate HC fans at Alumni, perhaps 6,000-6,500 yesterday at Fitton. But first thing is we have not played BC in 32 years and BC was our historic rival. And the game was hyped for many, many months.
Yale was Yale plus the Ring of Honor. Taking nothing from that, it is done every year.
No surprise to me of the disparity.

RoH recipient McGovern interviewed at halftime said he had been back to campus only a couple of times since he graduated

More HC fans went to BC because the Eagles make the game an event. HC could learn a lot about how to run a college football afternoon from them.

It was nice to be able to buy a beer and watch the game.

Might be more HC alums a short trip from Boston than a short trip from Worcester (perhaps one of many reason for the nice turnout of purple at BC).

Might be more HC alums a short trip from Boston than a short trip from Worcester (perhaps one of many reason for the nice turnout of purple at BC). I think that is true for many in the Boston area that would not travel to Worcester on any given other Saturday. There were many who came from across the nation because of the game as well. Our group of 30 came from CA, DC, KY, OH, NC, NJ, LA, NY, ME, CT and NH for the first time since the Yankee Stadium massacre, specifically because the game was against BC. Our next planned game get together is Syracuse game. Obviously due to geography, costs, family obligations (kids in sports, etc.), we are focusing on these marquee games.

That, in itself, is a reason for at least one such game every year.

BC loses to Purdue, 30-13 Purdue was 0-3 before the game QB Brown had 4 interceptions the win broke Purdue’s 20 game losing streak vs ranked teams. Way to go, Boilermakers !!
