From Washington DC media, the USNA has rented out a Hilton hotel in Annapolis to use as isolation space for about 100 midshipmen. Apparently, the USNA exhausted the available isolation space at the Academy. Contacts of the infected midshipmen are being quarantined in place, which explains the lockdown.
This is somewhat similar to HC's plan for the spring semester, in which HC has leased a hotel in downtown Worcester for isolation / quarantine space. However, if HC runs out of space at this hotel, HC has warned students that the campus will close and students sent home as happened a year ago.

To minimize overnight stays in a way that has little impact on the tourney, Lehigh should be playing Loyola with the winner going to Navy and HC and BU should be playing game 7 with the winner going to Colgate. Eliminating a lot of hours on the bus, perhaps with some windows open on what is shaping up as a frigid Tuesday, might not be a bad idea either. From a strictly basketball standpoint, I think I'd rather play the team with a worse record who has to travel rather than play the team with a better record which is a short bus ride for me. It might not be the COVID answer, but I really think it's the basketball answer

So glad I paid for ESPN + for the month of March Note to Alum - I do feel like there's a light at the end of the tunnel. I honestly believe that come October, I will be spending Saturday AM grilling in the outfield and the afternoon watching football at Fitton

Ah, crap. I wonder what the feasibility of putting the Tier 1 peronnel in post-season bubble would have been? I really wanted to see them beat Loyola and take a shot at Navy.

Can someone fill me in - what does "Tier One Group" mean? - does that mean someone affiliated with HC basketball is positive - coach or player or someone in HC athletics?

The PL's definition is "Tier 1 is the highest exposure tier and consists of individuals for whom physical distancing and face coverings are not possible or effective during athletic training or competition. Examples of relevant individuals include student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers, physical therapists, medical staff, equipment staff and officials." I'm sorry your season had to end like that. Especially for the seniors.

Pretty ironic.
It looked like we were handling the situation pretty well and then once we get to the playoffs .......

Well that makes the Navy dilemma for their game Saturday a hell of a lot easier. Go to Loyola and that's that.
Good luck to Matt and Austin with whatever their next stop in life is.
Hopefully there isn't even the slightest "erosion" in the roster other than those two young men. You never know these days.

If you don't want to see it happen then, perhaps, stop mentioning it. Remember the African proverb "To speak of an enemy gives it strength."

Much better for them to find a neutral site, assuming the Academy doesn't figure out a way for them to use their home court. That assumes the PL doesn't force them to play at Loyola.

I guess that’ll do it for 20-21, and for the careers of Butler and Faw.
Thank you for sticking it out, Austin and Matt. We’ll be proud to count you as fellow alums.

Notice my wording (on purpose) did not include something that has the same initials as Toilet Paper and did not mention any names. Nothing anyone can do a search on. But i will refrain from repeating any of that sort of thing from now on.

I hadn’t looked closely at this situation until now. But I see that Navy played their game Sunday in their normal home gym. If they were able to play a regular league game on Sunday, I don’t see why they can’t play a tournament game there as well.

After making no progress for two days getting through on the vaccination sites, I just tried the Yale New Haven site and hit the lottery. My wife and I are winners and will happily drive 70 miles to Bridgeport on Monday to get the one dose J and J variety.

Why would any school, especially a Service Academy, want two different schools from different states with possible different Covid protocols to play a game there ? See USNA America East had Vermont and UMBC play two games in Albany this year after cancellations with their opponents.
