Here's a good site to follow all of the FCS players in the portal - I wish it indicated the names in there looking for a grad transfer year vs just an undergrad looking to move - I think there should be no reason why HC should not look for academically qualified players who would fit here www.redshirtsports.xyz/2023-fcs-transfer-portal-tracker

Harvard, for example, has 13 on this site. I’d imagine all/almost all all are Covid and/or retroactive redshirts (almost all of whom will be graduate transfers with 1 or 2 seasons of eligibility). (Think Connor Degenhardt.) PL (minus HC) is currently well represented. I’d imagine we’ll see HC names once we’re out of the post-season. (Not saying we’ll lose, of course.) If we brought in a transfer I’m thinking young FBS player buried on a depth chart. Every year I hope but it just doesn’t seem to be our pattern.

And Ivies still honor the archaic rule of only allowing undergrads to compete in varsity sports. So even if you played at Harvard, graduated Harvard undergrad and got accepted into Harvard law, you can't play football even with eligibility remaining.

/\ Caught me mid -edit on an extended response. As far as Ivies go, they also don’t redshirt so a retroactive redshirt may be in order when a kid from there does a grad transfer (Again, think Connor Degenhardt at New Haven who got a Covid year PLUS a retroactive redshirt year after graduating HC).

New Haven worked out well for Degenhardt. He was the conference offensive player of the year this year.

Refresh my memory, please. Did Degenhardt graduate from HC before moving to U New Haven?

On another note, expect a massive number of FBS names to flood in the portal as their seasons wrap up. Besides the usual reasons we’ve got jockeying for NIL cash going on.

He has played his cards well so far.

A ton of players would likely mean 8 guys at 250 pounds each. How big was the one player already identified?

Maybe a good pass blocker but some real mobility issues

Aside from Roberts the return guy we brought in from the Naval Academy in 2017 or 2018, I can't remember any FBS transfers coming to Holy Cross for football under Chesney or Gilmore.
