Will the Dodgers / MLB still get ESG points for the thought?

Well, maybe if the Catholic Church, like many other Christian denominations, recognized that there is nothing in the gospels which condemns same sex relationships, groups like this wouldn't feel the need to mock it.
Of course, because whiny little Marco, the Catholic League with its horrendous leader, Bill Donahue, and a couple of Crossporters are all in a tizzy over this, the Little Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence have a much bigger audience than they did a week ago. Good work guys. Thanks for doing your part.

So you disagree with the Dodgers and think they should have been allowed to attend - Wow

From the article it seems as if this group might do some good things, and I'm all in when it comes to advancing and protecting the rights of LGBTQ people, but mocking nuns like this is over the top, especially when you consider the selfless lives most nuns live. Do I think the Church has been right about LGBTQ issues--absolutely not. But imagine if this group had called themselves the Ribald Rabbis or the Malignant Mullahs--there would be a firestorm of protest. If this group really is doing good they should consider re-branding themselves.

The group that was disinvited denied being anti-Catholic. Another gay pride group (apparently not anti-Catholic) is not attending in solidarity. I would need to see their act to decide if they cross the line or not, but I'm certainly not taking Marco's word for it.

Take the family out to the ballgame to see Mookie Betts, Clayton Kershaw, Paul Goldschmidt, and the sisters of perpetual indulgence. Fun for the whole family.

I don't know if you have kids, but if you do, you will find that when you take them to a game, one watches every pitch, one asks when it will be time to go home, one asks for food all day, one has to go to the bathroom and one talks to the people around you. When kids ask about someone who does not dress or act like some to whom they are accustomed, you explain it to them and they move on. Hatred and bigotry is a learned taste.

If this group really is doing good they should consider re-branding themselves. You are right that there would be a bigger outcry if the act mocked Judaism or Islam. Of course, Catholics make up 21% of all Americans (and other Christians make up about 50% more.) Only 1% practice Islam and only 2% are Jewish. When you are the big player, people are going to focus their attacks on you. This group uses what I guess could be loosely called parody to call attention to their issues. Based upon the existance of this thread, they have succeeded. EDIT: The Dodgers are getting blowback. www.nytimes.com/2023/05/18/sports/baseball/dodgers-pride-night.html?smid=tw-nytsports&smtyp=cur

Where you and I see things differently is that I don’t believe drag queens are appropriate for children. Much like male and female strippers are inappropriate for children. Much like anyone who is scantily clad is inappropriate for children. Shocking that this is controversial, but it is 2023.

Drag queens aren’t strippers. Oh, and people take kids to beaches and pools with scantily clad people.

One reason for continued and routine anti-Catholic bigotry/bias is that some Catholics accept it and/or explain it away.

I would say the Dodgers are not standing up against anti-Catholic bias. They're really not standing up for anything
They thought this organization was worthy of getting an award as community heroes and then backed off when there was backlash. The Dodgers capitulated to some that were standing up against anti-Catholic bias.
The Dodgers told this group they were going to be publicly recognized as heroes and then said they were not going to be honored. To each his own, but I would say that disappointment would be a more rational response rather than offended and outraged.
Semi off topic, but I happened to be in Green Hill Park last week and I noticed there is a new bench dedicated to the police officer who who drowned in Green Hill Pond trying to save a kid. In my that's a far better example of a community hero

Why the obsession with parodying nuns? I wish the entertainment/protest industry would stop using warped portrayals of nuns. I did not care for "Nunsense", "Sister Act "even "The Flying Nun" or any of it. (Also, I refused to watch "Fr. Guido Sarducci" on TV.) If there is a nun/priest in character in a film or play, fine. See "Going My Way", "Keys To The Kingdom" and others. Too often nuns are parodied in ways that are demeaning, not humanizing but dehumanizing. Leave the nuns alone!

Dodgers have caved - reinvited them - of course they did I would say they caved twice. First they caved to people offended by the group's depiction of Catholics. Then they caved again when the LGBTQ group was offended. Perhaps they should stick to baseball ------------------------------- Since the Dodgers are kind of spineless and will cave for everybody, what would happen if we organized a vocal group that was offended by designated hitters? I wonder if the Dodgers would make their pitchers bat

Ahhh, the designated hitter! Another reason I turned against baseball. (MLB and then it all flows downhill from there. They started it!) But, then again, I'd probably think all football players should play both ways.

I read the following about the "Sisters": "The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence use 'go and sin some more' as their motto, and frequently dress as Jesus, Mary and other religious figures. Members also hold pub crawls that mock the Stations of the Cross, and even the Eucharist."
I admit I have had an uneven relationship with the Church, and I'm all for free speech, even when it lampoons religion, but it seems odd that the Dodgers would choose to celebrate a group that is so aggressively anti-Catholic.

Didn't wade through the whole article but the headline "Priests commit no more abuse than other males" indicates the mission of the Priesthood has failed if they aren't better behaved than average.
It's like saying NBA players are only as good at basketball as YMCA adult league players.

I'm not sure when this "conversion" happened in me but for some time now, maybe as I've grown to know more priests, I've come to realize that they are not the saints the nuns would have us believe. JMO but they are mostly very good people but like all humans, they have their flaws.
I would venture to say that they are, on average, better than most, but some obviously aren't.
I also think your interpretation of the headline is different than mine.
P.S. FWIW, when my wife and I taught 5th graders CCD and when I worked with middle schoolers with the Ignatian Volunteer Corps at Community Prep in Providence. the Diocese of Providence required us to take a course about keeping kids safe from abuse (for CCD) and we had to have background checks made with the police/state authorities. My recollection was since I had already taken the course for CCD, I got a waiver from Community Prep since I was "certified" even though Community Prep is not a Catholic school (just run by a bunch of Catholics).
