With all the negative posts here (mine included), I think there needs to be a tip of the hat to Caleb Kenney. His development on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court is very visible. If he were surrounded by better and more mature players he could become a real inside force.

Is this worse than the Raynor years? Tough question but I would have to say it is close.
This is a really poor basketball team.
They clearly deserve their computer ranking.

The key to tonite’s game is to not let #24 Jack Forest get many open looks. He is a pure shooter and has range. He shoots close to 40% from three and 90% from the line. If Montgomery is back (doubtful), he would be a good choice to guard him. But regardless of who is assigned to him, he better stick to him like glue or he will kill us.

I think that is Gary Witts...His freshman season.. Garry Witts. Kevin Daley was class of ‘77. The picture of the bench is from the 76-77 season. #34 is Kevin McAuley who was a senior that year. I have the team picture and roster from 76-77 and #20 is Kevin Daley. Gary Witts, who also wore #20, was a freshman on the 77-78 team. I hope this clears up this terrible dilemma. 😀

OK, Next week will be two weeks with no formal staff announcement. Anyone hear of a press conference announcemnt scheduled for early in the week? Or, might this be done with a single press release (posted on the HC website)? I would expect a posting on the HC Athletics site. Can’t imagine a press conference to announce the staff.

#20 was Kevin Daley.
I wasn’t sure either. I had to look it up.

A couple of noteworthy stats on Elms:
1) they are shooting 24% from three for the year 2) over the last 2 games they have had 23 and 25 turnovers, respectively 3) the largest crowd that Elms has played in front of this season is 254
Here's another interesting stat about a HC opponent. According to Pomeroy, HC is ranked #353 and Siena, one of our losses, is actually ranked below us as # 360 out of 362 schools.

Rutgers was up 14-0, let Miami back in with multiple dirty plays/penalties now goes up 21-17 with a blocked punt and recovery for a TD. The blocking formation for that punt was the strangest one I have ever seen….. 4 down lineman and 2 behind the line defending the punter. Rutgers rushed 8. The punter had almost no chance. Two players blocked it with their chests. Love to know what the Miami special teams coach was thinking.

Forgive what might be seen as a silly question and purely academic: Jake Dobbs has finished his time with Holy Cross and officially transferring to JMU. JMU is going to a bowl game but I haven't been paying attention when and assume it has yet to be played. Can Jacob, if he chooses, play in that game? Their game is this Saturday, Dec 23rd against Air Force.

Not about winning the press conference. Must be 10-2 or better in 2024. This is not a rebuild - td128 likes to say “Let’s Win” - no excuses - Really?
Have you looked at the schedule?
We just lost 4 All Americas to graduation.
It's a significant rebuild of the OL.
I like what I see with Curran but if he goes 8-4, he is doing a fantastic job.

Talk about piling it on.....So Dakota St was up 56-0 on Albany and kicked a FG with 3:53 remaining in the game to make it 59-0.
That might prompt a comment to the SDS coach during the "handshake" at mid field.

It can but it can be tricky, team dynamic-wise etc.....probably a lot tougher in hoop given the #'s etc I think Al McGuire caught some grief playing his son a lot at Marquette.....my wiser, more mature fellow alums may remember that better. Al had a few memorable quotes about that. ”All ties (as far as playing time) go to my son.” “ We took a family vote on starting.. His mother won the day.” As I remember it. McGuire said:
"The player (name I forget) comes up to me in the hall and says 'Coach I have a problem. You are playing Allie ahead of me and I'm every bit as good as your son'." "So I turned to him and said: "You are exactly right. You ARE as good a player as my son. But he's my son. So in order to play you need to be BETTER than him!"

If so, why not announce today ? Certainly would make sense to the recruits arriving today. The fact that there are no leaks is remarkable. It really is.
You would think that, even if ADKH has the HC inner circle tied up tight, there would be a buzz around the coaching community about at least who have interviewed.

I won't lie, I don't think he even makes it 5 years. If he does well (which I expect), I think he's gone in 3. The two guys on that JMU podcast both feel he might be gone in 2 years.

Is JMU the big time? Seems like the medium-time, at best. Chesney needs success at JMU's level in order to be a serious candidate for a top P5 job.

Way too much drama.
As they say on Shark Tank "For that reason, I'm out."
I'll tune back in when either school comes out with something definitive.

I remember when Syracuse used to come to Fitton in the 60's and they brought their marching band.
They were announced as "100 Men and a Girl".
The "girl" of course was a majorette all decked out in an orange sequin outfit and leading the marching band while tossing a baton.
Now I see their band numbers 200.

My vote is for Chris Smith of the NY giants. i agree.
Note the paragraph:
"I was an economics and accounting major at Holy Cross, and I did an internship at GE in financial management in 2008 … and I hated it," Smith told The News last fall before a Holy Cross game at UB. "The corporate atmosphere wasn’t for me. I was in the second round of a job interview for an accounting job after college and I turned it down to coach. You realize at some point, it’s more about being happy than it is about being rich, and if you love something, do it. I said, “If I could ever make it back as a full-time coach at HC, I’ve made it.” And I’m doing this at Holy Cross."

He is signed He and Tyler will make an immediate difference to how we play. Ryan needs more minutes once he is in playing shape so he too can be ready for 24-25 Interesting comment on Ryan. Is there something delaying his getting into playing shape?

The first NET rankings were released today. There are 362 teams. Seven of the ten Patriot League schools are in the bottom quarter with six having rankings in the 300's. Given roughly 2/3 of the remaining games will be against other league members, the rankings for the conference are not likely to get appreciably better. #136 Colgate #202 Boston U #266 Bucknell #295 Navy #311 Lehigh #321 Loyola-MD #327 American #331 Lafayette #347 Holy Cross #354 Army Link: www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-men/d1/ncaa-mens-basketball-net-rankingsLooking at these ratings.
If we go 0-2 with the top 4 teams, 1-1 with the next 4, and 2-0 with Army, we would be 6-12 in the PL.
Hoping for better but probably a pretty realistic estimate.

Unfortunately, as poor as we may be this year, with Bo, Octave, and Louth graduating, next year could be much worse unless the incoming freshmen are the second coming of Vicens and Potter.
Realistically we are at least two more seasons away from even a .500 record.
Buckle up. It's going to be a long road ahead until we are respectable again.
